BIRMINGHAM RUNNING FESTIVAL 5k, 10k & HALF MARATHON – Saturday 22nd February 2020

Race Numbers

All pre-entries will be assigned a number. To collect them you need to make your way down to the numbers desk between 8:00am – 9:00am for the Half Marathon and 8:30am – 9:30am for the 5k & 10k. It will take around 15 minutes to collect your number and drop your bag off. The earlier you get there, the more efficient we will be on the day. You will only need one number attached to the front of your shirt. If you have your own pins then that would be great but we will have supplies if needed.

Your race number corresponds to the event you are doing, you CANNOT change distance.

Your timing chip will also be in the envelope, this needs to be attached to your shoe as per the instructions on the back of the chip. Please make sure you keep your number on at all times during the race. At the finish you can dispose of your chip (we do not need to collect them back).

When you collect your race packs, please take a couple of minutes to fill out the brief runner Information form which can be found printed on the back of your bib. This will help us greatly in case of an emergency!

Baggage

We will have a secure area where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect,  show your number to the baggage tent staff and they will help you find your baggage.

Toilets

There will be portaloos for all runners a little walk from the Start/Finish so we recommend you take this into account and plan before the race starts.

Refreshments

​There will be water provided on every lap of the race.

During the race

We will have marshals all around the course as well as yellow signs for mile markers and red signs for KMs. The entire course is inside Sutton Park on the roads/paths not on grass. View the course map HERE.

  • Half Marathon – 4 laps (with an out and back at the start)
  • 10k – 2 laps
  • 5k – 1 lap

Please be aware that we have a lead bike on the front of each race. In the event that the course is a multi lap course, be aware that the lead bike might catch up behind you, and will be communicating which side the bike will be passing. In the interest of safety to yourself, other runners, pedestrians and our marshals, it is very important that instructions are listened to, and that if you are wearing headphones, your music is at a level that will allow you to hear instructions clearly. Also, please be aware that there will be spectators and members of the public using the park.

Spectators

In terms of spectating, this park could literally not be any better, the fields are open and every area of the park is accessible to see people running round. You can see the course map HERE.

Results

Results will be available on https://www.birminghamrunningfestival.com/ after the race.

Pictures

We will have a photographer taking a few snaps of the race and they will be on our Facebook page after the race so be sure to check it out and see if you can spot yourself.

Travel

Address: Park Road, Sutton Coldfield, B73 6BT

If using public transport, it’s a short walk to the main entrance at Town Gate from either the bus station in central Sutton Coldfield or the Sutton Coldfield rail station. Sutton Coldfield is less than half a mile away from the event village.

There are several entrances to the park. Car parks are marked on the Sutton Park HERE. There is very limited parking available on site so we recommend car pooling and taking public transport.

The park is easily accessible by both foot and cycle. Cycle parking is available in the park.

Things to note!

There WILL be pedestrians, please be aware of pedestrians, cyclists and dogs. We have marshals around the course and signs but this is not a road race, you have to pay very close attention to where you are going. We recommend you do not use earphones and you need to pay close attention to everything around you.
